Motorcade, mom and secret service in tow, the first day of school for 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha Obama at Sidwell Friends School, a private Quaker day school began today. The new first family arrived in D.C. on Saturday and moved into their temporary digs at the renowned Hay-Adams Hotel. President Obama arrived Sunday. As to be expected, the Obama girls' first day of school was met with a bevy of reporters and camera flashes. Everyone wanted to get a glimpse of the new first children attending their first day of school. Sidwell Friends School personnel assured that while they plan to ensure that the girls' first day would go smoothly, they "would not be treated like little princesses." Stardom or not, the Obama girls will have the eye of the world upon them. They are the daughters of the first African American President and they are ushering in a younger and different generation to the White House. They're going to be the topic of discussion for everyone.
