Former NBA great Dave Bing was elected the mayor of Detroit yesterday in the first special election in Detroit in 79 years.
"I don't intend to lose. We're winning," Bing said.
Bing ran with no politician experience and has experience in business as the leader of the Bing Group. He will serve the rest of Kwame Kilpatricks term thru December 31. Kilpatrick is currently in jail for a scandal that involved text messages. Bing has a good, upstanding name with the city and from his peers and should be successful leading the city.
