After 69 seasons, Hofstra is dropping football because of high cost and low interest in the college football community. There are the second school this week to do this. Northeastern dropped football after over 70 years. This could be a familiar theme with the economy and way that things are going. Notable alumni of Hofstra are current New Orleans Saint Marques Colston and Steeler offensive tackle Willie Colon. Former NFL stars that went to Hofstra are Wayne Chrebet and former Hofstra quarterback Giovanni Carmazzi.
