Mariely Gonzalez, 25, a school safety agent has been charged with drunk driving and reckless driving after her 1999 Toyota Camry slammed into a tree on Orchard Beach Road Thursday killing one of her passengers.
An unidentified man in the back seat who fractured his spinal cord and is currently in stable condition and Veronica Cintron was in the front passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ironically, Cintron, 20, had sued Gonzalez in May 2009 after she suffered "serious and permanent injuries" as a result of car accident in which Gonzalez was driving and rear-ended another vehicle.
Gonzalez if facing an aggravated vehicular homicide charge and was also charged with refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test after the recent accident.
