The Bergen County Prosecutor's office continues to investigate the death of enterprising New York City rap artist, Kampane, and chief Prosecutor John Molinelli said the rapper's death will be investigated as a homicide.

The entertainer's partially burned body was found this week in the rear cargo area of a black SUV parked on Village Circle West, a quiet street in Paramus, New Jersey. The 33-year-old Brooklyn resident had also been shot.

Investigators say Kampane, whose real name is Rhian H. Stoute, was initially hard to identify due to his injuries, and they do not believe he was murdered where his body was found.

According to WPIX 11 News, a woman at an address listed as Stoute's home, identified herself as Phyllis, the rapper's mother. She described him as a "loving son who brought everyone together."

Stoute, of Flatbush, released his first mix-tape in 1997 before going on tour with music producer J Runnah, who is also his cousin, and Roc-a-Fella in 2000. The rapper was two weeks shy of his 34th birthday at the time of his death, and had been working to promote his new music video, "What You Drinkin' On." In May, Stoute performed live at the Paradise Theater in the Bronx with several artists including Bobby Valentino and Red Cafe, his website reported.
Molinelli, said the county medical examiner must determine the exact cause of Stoute's death, but did not release any further details on the murder.
