Press Release: Salsa in the MIX 2012

Rain Couldn't Stop Puerto Rican Pride at Salsa in the MIX

Bronx, NY -- What A Great Turn Out at the Salsa in the Mix Festival on Saturday, July 28, 2012, where crowds of more than 2,000 filled Crotona Park! As the Puerto Rican flags were flying strong, so did the culture and pride of those that came to dance the afternoon away! None of the success would be possible without the artists who performed- Herencia De Plena, E.C., Papito Surcuatro, Phillip Anthony, Gemini, Kandelo, Young Raze, Artie and Legit, the list goes on and on! Great dance performances from The Tanima Dancers and The South Bronx Kids. The main headliners didn't get to perform because of the sudden downpour of rain in the final hour, but NiteLine Radio and DJ Solo Remix kept the party going on the ones and twos while broacasting live!

President, Francisco Gonazalez, said "Our mission within the Bronx Puerto Rican Parade, is to include all ethnic groups within the City. Salsa in the Mix 'helps us do that."

An added surprise was the breakout Flash Mob, thanks Jose Enriquez and Katie Gomez, choreographers, for the awesome dance routine. Thank you to Annette Casper DeJesus and Catherine Fonseca for teaming up together and organizing the flash mob performance! Herencia De Plena was gracious enough their set to be interrupted for the Flash Mob showcase! Another
great year of hosting by Artie Rodriguez and Maribel Mercado, Artie kept the crowds up beat and even threw on a TuTu for more laughter! Photos froze the fun through pictures for future generations to enjoy, taken Carlos Mercado and Catherine Fonseca!

A special congratulations goes to Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade's Vice President, Ruben Rios, on his Veteran of the Year Award. He couldn't have been more gracious or surprised!

About the Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade-- The Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade is held each Spring on the Grand Concourse, and it is usually the first major activity held in the Bronx each year. In 2012, over 50,000 participants joined us. Over the past twenty five years the Parade has grown from a few small groups to international organizations, sponsoring Puerto Rican cultural activities and nurturing relations with groups from throughout the nation. With the continued financial contributions of local and national businesses and corporations, we have been able to provide scholarships to our annual Pageant participants leading up to the Parade.

SEE YOU AT NEXT YEAR'S PARADE JUNE 2013 and SALSA IN THE MIX, JULY 2013!
