Negron serving federal prison sentence in Texas
A retired Marine and former Sheriff's Deputy in Onslow County, NC pleaded guilty in Greenville Federal court to the sexual abuse of a minor earlier this year and was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison.
Edward Negron, of Jacksonville, was also ordered to pay $7950 in restitution and will serve three years of supervised parole following his release from Federal prison. Negron, who resigned from the Onslow County Sheriff's Department immediately following the disclosure of the sexual abuse allegation, was originally arrested by Jacksonville police in 2010 and charged with Statutory Rape.
According to various media sources, the victim's father became aware of the abuse more than 10 years later when his daughter blurted it out during a family argument. Her father, Dan Martinez, immediately reported the allegations to Negron's boss, Onslow County Sheriff, Ed Brown.
Negron and Martinez were reportedly best friends who met while serving in the Marines aboard Camp Lejeune. Martinez was the Godfather of Negron's daughter. Sheriff Ed Brown told Triad.news14, that the victim, who is now 25-years-old, said that "Some type of sex happened" when she was 15 years old and Negron was 23, News14 reported.
Negron, who appeared quite remorseful as he sat in an Onslow County Courtroom to plead guilty to taking indecent liberties with a minor, was sentenced to five years probation on the State charges and was forced to register as a sex offender. Following his conviction in State court, Federal authorities stepped up to file charges of their own in January 2012 since the crimes were committed aboard Camp Lejeune. He was sentenced in April 2012 and is now serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institute at Seagoville, which is located 11 miles southeast of Dallas, Texas.
The former Gunnery Sergeant served more than 10 years in the Marines and was the recipient of the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.

My daughter was 12yrs old at the time of the rape not 15yrs old as it's being broadcasted to the media. I still can't get over the fact that all he got was 40-months for raping a child.
