NBA Bans DWades Band-Aid and Mourning to have his jersey retired

Dwayne Wade, the leading scorer in the NBA had his signature Band-Aid banned prior to a game Friday night. Wade, had been wearing a Band Aid to protect seal a cut under his left eye. The problem came after the cut had healed and Wade started to wear decorated band aids. He had worn band aids with his nickname Flash and the American flag after the cut had healed.

The NBA wanted to stop self promotion so put out a mandate that players could wear a band aid for health reasons but not for self promotion. "A player can wear a Band-Aid for health care purposes, but it shouldn't have any name or identifications on it,"NBA spokesman Tim Frank said.
On March 30, Alonzo Mourning will be the first Miami Heat team member to have his jersey retired by the Miami Heat. Mourning played 11 seasons with the Heat and was part of the 32006 NBA championship team. He finished his career with averages of 17.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.8 blocked shots a game. He is best known for having kidney failure his final season with the Heat. He had a successful kidney transplant and retired.
"It's fitting that he has the first jersey retired in the Heat arena," Wade said before Miami played theYork Knicks Saturday night. "You think Alonzo, you think of Miami. To see his jersey in the rafters will mean a lot to every player who comes through here. He's kind of what this organization stands for."
