NEW YORK — Witnesses say a small plane and a helicopter collided over the Hudson River just after noon today between Manhattan and New Jersey (Hoboken). Both aircrafts crashed into the Hudson River. The Coast Guard is on the scene and police divers have deployed. Witnesses say there was a loud pop, like a car backfire and that the helicopter “dropped like a rock” and that the plane lost a wing. More information on this story as it becomes available.
UPDATE: 1:15 p.m.
The plane involved in the Hudson River crash this afternoon was a Liberty Tours aircraft. One person has been pulled from the Hudson River thus far. At this time it is not known how many people were on the plane, but there were reportedly four passengers on the helicopter.
