Two American journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee were tearful and grateful to be back on American soil after spending months in a North Korean prison. Estatic and exhausted, the women cried as they embraced their families.

The journalists had been arrested for illegal entry and "hostile acts" while covering a story near North Korea's border with China. The two were tried, convicted and sentenced to 12 years of hard labor. After former President Bill Clinton's talk with North Korean leader Kim Jong, journalist Laura Ling, 32, sister of actor Lisa Ling and Euna Lee, 36 were pardoned and allowed to leave the country.
