The U.S. National Hurricane Center has just updated the status of Hurricane Rick and says that the storm has weakened but is still dangerous and could hit resorts at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula by the middle of the week.
Forecasters say that the winds were down to 145 mph making Hurricane Rick a Category 4 storm. A hurricane watch may be called for parts of southern Baja California later today. The eye was centered approximately 410 miles south of Cabo San Lucas as of 11 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Sunday. Hurricane Rick is expected to continue to weaken over the next few days but large swells from the storm will cause treacherous surf along the southern Baja California coast and west-central coast of Mexico.
