LOS ANGELES - Brittany Murphy's "devastated" husband is lashing back at speculation his "baby" died from a drug overdose.

"I can get rid of that [rumor] right now," Simon Monjack told People.com.

The grieving husband said Murphy, 32, had laryngitis and also suffered from a heart murmur, but that neither appeared serious leading up to her untimely death Sunday morning.

Monjack said Murphy spent Saturday night relaxing in bed, watching movies and sipping herbal tea.

"She was on herbal remedies that wouldn't speed up her heart," Monjack said.

"There was nothing here that could endanger her. There was prescription medication in the house for her female time and some cough syrup. That was it."

Monjack addressed the report he opposed an autopsy saying he's since changed his mind.

"My initial reaction to the autopsy was - they're going to cut her open. I couldn't bear it," he said.

"That would break her mother, but we realized we needed to know. I look forward to getting the results."

A British screenwriter who wed Murphy in 2007, Monjack also shot down speculation that the "Clueless" star had an eating disorder.

"These rumors that she was anorexic? It's crazy. She was slim, but that was her natural physique," he said.

"How did it happen? Her mum, myself and her family - we want to know why we lost our baby."

An autopsy conducted Monday found no visible cause of death so a final determination is pending toxicology and other tests that could take four to eight weeks, a coroner spokesman told the Daily News.

The spokesman said multiple prescriptions recovered from Murphy's home had been booked into evidence.

"Large amounts" of prescription medications were found on Murphy's nightstand, and "numerous empty" bottles were recovered for prescriptions written to Murphy, her mom, Monjack and unidentified third-party names, according to investigative notes obtained by TMZ.com.

The notes said Murphy had been complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain for seven to 10 days before she went to the bathroom about 7:30 a.m. Sunday and collapsed.

Her mother found her on the floor a half-hour later, according to the notes, and Murphy's husband attempted to revive her by placing her in the shower.

The drugs included the anti-seizure medication Topamax, anti-anxiety medications Klonopin and Ativan, pain killers Vicoprofen and hydrocodone, depression medication Fluoxetine and hypertension medication Propranolol, TMZ reported.

Murphy's estranged dad, Angelo Bertolotti, said he wanted a full investigation.

He told the Daily News his daughter was always bubbly and healthy as a kid.

Monjack conceded his wife was trying to get heavier and planned to try for a baby in 2010.

"She tried to gain weight but had one of those metabolisms - a high metabolism - but enjoyed food as much as anyone," he told People.

"So many people have their views of us, but they never met us or sat down with us," he said. "I'm not perfect, but I don't think anyone is. … I am feeling beyond devastated."
