A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer is facing additional charges today after a third woman has come forward accusing him of fondling her during two separate traffic stops in November and December 2009. Marcus Jackson, a former police officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police has been accused of sexually assaulting female drivers while in uniform and driving a police cruiser. Jackson had been hired in 2008.

When the first victim came forward, Chief Monroe held a news conference stating that it would be "naive" to think that Jackson had not assaulted any other women. He displayed a photograph of the disgraced officer and asked that any other women who had been assaulted by Jackson come forward.

Initial complaints indicated that Jackson assaulted two females in separate incidents between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. in the Eastway Division of east Charlotte.

The first incident occurred on Dec. 18 when Jackson allegedly pulled a 17-year-old girl over, forced her into his patrol car and drove her to another location where he performed sex acts upon her. It was a relative of the victim that reported the assault to police.

As detectives were investigating the first complaint, a 21-year-old woman came forward claiming Jackson had also assaulted her.

Marcus Ramon Jackson, age 26, who was immediately fired from the police force, was arrested December 30, 2009 after two other women accused him of sexually assaulting them during traffic stops in the Queen City.

Chief Rodney Monroe held a news conference today announcing that another woman had come forward with a complaint that Jackson had assaulted her twice.

"Mr. Jackson stopped this victim on two separate occasions. ... The first incident took place on Nov. 2, 2009 when Mr. Jackson conducted a traffic stop and abused his authority to conduct a search, during which time he fondled the female victim," Monroe said.

On Dec. 29, Jackson stopped the victim's vehicle with her and her boyfriend inside. When the boyfriend saw what was happening and objected and tried to call 911, Jackson arrested him and his girlfriend. Police suspect Jackson may have stalked the woman prior to pulling her over.

The new charges Jackson faces include:
two counts of sexual battery
one count of felonious restraint
one count of interfering with emergency communication.

Jackson is being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail in lieu of a $360,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Thursday. Below are a summary of all of the charges Jackson is facing.

Chief Monroe is asking that any woman who was assaulted by Jackson to come forward by contacting detective Mike Melendez at (704) 353-0560.
