A special-education teacher mowed down as he jogged by a doped-up wannabe model on Staten Island last week succumbed to his injuries and died this morning, police said.
Daniel Kelley, 23, a teacher at PS 16, died early this morning at Staten Island University Hospital today, five days after he and a friend were struck on Hylan Boulevard near Lipsett Avenue in Annadale.
The driver, Gypsy Porfirio, 34, of Brooklyn, was allegedly high on the prescription pills Xanax, Percocent and Ambien and told cops she "blacked out at the wheel."
"I can't believe I hit a person," Gypsy Porfirio, 34, told a cop after the Tuesday car crash. She is charged with assault, drug possession and driving under the influence, and is free on $150,000 bail.
Cops found 45 oxycodone pills and 15 alprazolam pills on Porfirio, whose lawyer said she had a prescription for the drugs
