MISSION, HARLEM ‘AMERICAN LEGION’ TROUPE HOST MARTIN LUTHER KING DINNER FOR HOMELESS

What: American Legion Post 398 members and spouses will prepare/serve a “home-cooked fried chicken dinner" for over 200 homeless New Yorkers at the New York City Rescue Mission's 12th Annual Martin Luther King Celebration.

When: 4:45-6:00PM, Monday, January 18, 2010

Who: Gloria Williams, VIP volunteers and the NYC Rescue Mission. Ken Williams, Gloria's spouse, will be on hand with a service crew from his jazzy 132d Street American Legion chapter.

Where: 90 Lafayette St, two blocks south of Canal Street in Lower Manhattan
Why: To honor Dr King's birth–and his life-long love for soul food–by aiding dispossessed people at a table of brotherhood.

Interview and photo opportunities with New York City Rescue Mission Director James VarnHagen, Gloria & Ken Williams, and other guests and volunteers will be available.
