Moussaoui's life sentence for Sept. 11 attack role upheld

An appeals court on Monday confirmed a life sentence handed down on Zacarias Moussaoui, a French national, for complicity in the Sep. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

The ruling upheld a sentence passed by a federal court in Virginia in May 2006 after Moussaoui pleaded guilty to conspiracy in the hijackings of the airliners used in the attacks on New York and Washington. The court rejected Moussaoui's claims he was hampered in selecting his counsel and was denied evidence during his trial.

Moussaoui is serving a life sentence at a maximum security prison in Colorado.
