A prostitution sting netted the arrests of 19 men from Monmouth and Ocean counties Friday after police say they solicited sex from an undercover female police officer, with one of the dim wits offering the officer a box of tasty cakes snacks and $10 cash in exchange for a sex act.
The sting, which began around 11:00 a.m. took place on Kingsley Avenue, between Asbury Park and Fifth Avenues and ended sometime after 5 p.m. Police say the men offered the undercover officer anywhere from $10 to $100 and were charged with solicitation of prostitution.
"We run these types of details throughout the city from time to time," said Detective Capt. Anthony Salerno. "It should serve as a deterrent to folks - if you're looking for illegal activity, Asbury Park is not the place to come to."
