A quarrel between two men ended in a stabbing at the Fairbanks Motel in Sea Bright Sunday morning.

Police responding to the 1 a.m. stabbing, found Rudolph Kastner, 46, of Highlands stabbed in the back inside of a room at the motel.

An earlier domestic dispute that left a Port Monmouth woman with injuries to her face is believed to have been the catalyst for the stabbing of Kastner.

In an odd move, police have charged the victim and another man, 50-year-old George Trevett, who Kastner was allegedly stabbed by with numerous charges.

Trevett, of Port Monmouth, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and weapons charges. He was taken to Monmouth County Jail in the Freehold Township and held in lieu of $16,000 bail.

Kastner has been charged with simple assault and taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch to be treated for the knife wound to his back.

The knife believed to have been used to stab Kastner was confiscated by police.
