A renewed search of debris in and around the World Trace Center site has led to the identification of 37 previously unidentified September 11 victims.

Beginning in April, officials sifting through more than 800 cubic yards of debris recovered from roads in lower Manhattan and the area around ground zero in an effort to find more remains. The search ended Friday.

Ongoing construction work made new parts of the site accessible where officials discovered the remains of victims from material underneath the West Street highway, located on the west side of ground zero.

The city's renewed search for human remains began in 2006. More than 1,800 remains have since been found.
