Michael Jordan's short-lived minor league baseball career is the focus of a new documentary, The Raleigh, North Carolina News & Observer has reported.

Tonight at 8 p.m., ESPN will air the documentary, titled "Jordan Rides the Bus," by "Bull Durham" director, Ron Shelton.

Jordan, 47, a native of Wilmington, North Carolina began his rise to basketball fame at Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington. In 1981, with a basketball scholarship in hand, Jordan, who was born in Brooklyn, moved on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jordan was the Chicago Bulls third overall pick during round one of the 1984 NBA draft. He left the Bulls in 1994 to play baseball where he batted .202 in his first and only playing season with the Birmingham Barons. The MLB went on strike a year later and on March 18, 1995, Jordan announced his return to the NBA. A day later, the "three-peat" champ returned to the court donning jersey number 45 (his number with the Barons).

Jordan, who went on to win three more titles with the Bulls, is now the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. He is the father of three and was divorced from longtime love, Juanita Vanoy, in December 2006 after 17 years of marriage. Several media outlets reported that Juanita Jordan received a $168 million settlement, reportedly the largest celebrity divorce settlement in history at the time.

Jordan's son, Jeffrey played his first collegiate basketball game in November 2007 for the University of Illinois. Son Marcus began attending the University of Central Florida in the fall of 2009. Jordan's pro career ran from 1984 until his retirement in 2003.
