NJ Restaurant Review: A little taste of Jamaica in Somerset, NJ

Upon entering Real Jamaican Jerk an' Ting you get a sense that you're somewhere with a island feel. The cafe/takeout restaurant you get the color scheme and the smells of good goat meat, plantains, and oxtails. Upon enterting this particular day we meet the owner, Iva Thompson, a woman with a glow about her that makes you feel like you're at home. This food gives me the kind of sensation to take me back to my honeymoon, of sunny beaches and blue skies. Mrs. Thompson's restaurant, set in the  backdrop of Somerset, New Jersey. The yellow and green colors constantly   remind the customer of the Caribbean flavors they will eat. The curry goat was an excellent choice to get with just the right amount of curry flavor, and platains juicy to taste. The flavors that greet you give you a spicy and zesty flavor. The goat is well cooked and flavorful, at times I wished we had a little more.

Overall, I recommend going to Real Jamicain Jerk an' Ting, especially if you're from the islands. The quaint little spot in Somerset, NJ gives you a little taste of Jamaica right here in Jersey. Check out their website here.
