The estranged husband of Teresa Foster, the Brooklyn mother accused of abusing her son, told the New York Daily News that he saw no signs his son was being abused the last time he visited him and claimed he did not know the man accused of murdering his son was living with his estranged wife.

Ameen Foster, 33, the father of 2-year-old Aiyden Foster told The News, "When I saw Aiyden last week he was fine. He was playing, running around, dancing."

However, prosecutors said the night little Aiyden was beaten to death was not the first time he had been abused, according to Assistant District Attorney Colleen Babb, who said Teresa Foster admitted that over the past month, she beat her son with a belt.

Police theorize that the little boy was hit so hard by Reginald Williams, Teresa Foster's boyfriend, for refusing to recite the alphabet, that the suspect hurt his hands, The NY Daily News reported.

Williams, 31, has been charged with murder. Officials say murder charges against Teresa Foster are unlikely because she was not home when her son was beaten to death.

Foster, who is employed as a security guard, says he didn't learn his son's death until his brother called him Saturday night after seeing it on the news.

"I don't want to speculate about anything because I had no idea \[Teresa\] was living with someone else," said Foster as he fought back tears.

"I don't know what happened. Teresa is not like that," said the heartbroken father.
