The fiancée of NYPD shooting victim, Sean Bell, is considering running for a City Council seat, The NY Daily News reported.

Quoting a source from the political newspaper and website Politico, The Daily News reported that Nicole Paultre Bell was "considering the pursuit of the Queens City Council seat that became open when Councilman Thomas White died last Friday."

Bell, a mother of two, resides in Far Rockaway, but not in White’s former district. Sources say Bell must first accumulate nominating petition signatures before the November 2 election, 1010 WINS reported and that political advisers were meeting with her Friday to discuss the possibility of running.

Bell, who sued the city in connection with her 23-year-old fiance's death, was recently awarded a multi-million dollar settlement in that lawsuit. The detectives charged with shooting her Fiance were acquitted at trial.

Sean Bell was shot November 25, 2006, around the corner from a Queens topless bar where he and friends were celebrating his impending marriage. The undercover officers charged in his shooting were in the area where Bell was shot because they were investigating prostitution activity complaints. Bell was to marry his fiancée later that day.
