Unsecured Gate Prompts Three Terminal Closure at LAX

An unguarded terminal in a secure area of the Los Angeles International Airport prompted the temporary closure of three terminals early Saturday, Transportation Security Administration spokesman Jon Allen said.

Allen told 1010wins.com that around 4:30 a.m. an officer noticed an unguarded exit in one of the secured sections of a terminal and realized that a contract worker was no where to be found.

Three checkpoints were closed as officers reviewed videotape from all three exits. Allen says the tapes showed no one entered the secure area through the exit while it was unguarded. The closures caused five arrivals and three departures to be delayed.

Allen added that the incident remains under investigation as TSA determines how long the lane was left unattended.
