Rockland County District Attorney announced the sentencing of the following defendants Wednesday:
Marquise Henderson, of 52 Temple Lane, in Suffern, New York was sentenced to nine months in the Rockland County Jail after pleaded guilty in August 2010 to one count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that in May 2010 at 4:43 a.m. police found Henderson driving a car while intoxicated and while his driving privileges were suspended in the State of New York. Henderson, 25, was considered a habitual offender having racked up a total of seven driving suspensions. In addition to the jail sentence, Judge Charles Apotheker added a $500 fine, a $80 court surcharge and ordered Henderson to install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle he purchases or operates for a period of one year following his jail sentence.
William B. James, of Inwood, New York was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in State prison following a guilty plea in June 2011 to fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
According to the press release, the 56-year-old Bayview Avenue man was stopped by police in February 2011 for a vehicle and traffic violation in West Nyack. A subsequent search led to the discovery of several stolen credit credits.
A Highland Falls man learned he will spend the next six years in a New York State Prison following a guilty plea to first-degree attempted robbery, said Zugibe.
Police say 20-year-old Ryan Hayes, of 58 Laurel Road tried to rob a TD bank teller of $3,000 after handing her a note claiming to have a pistol and threatening to shoot if his demands were not met. Hayes targeted the TD branch located at 82 South Liberty Drive in Stony Point on May 10, 2010. Judge Apotheker also ordered the would-be bank thief to 2 ½ years post release supervision.
A welfare check of a vehicle driven by Carlos Caraballo in July 2010 led to the discovery of 30 grams of cocaine, said Zugibe. Caraballo and his passenger were stopped on Interstate 87 near Sloatsburg when police found the narcotics. The 33-year-old Rochester man copped a guilty plea in to attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance in May 2011. Judge Apotheker sentenced Caraballo to one year and six months in State Prison and one year and six months of post release supervision.
