Bronx HIV Advocacy Network Discusses Service Priorities and Linkages to Care Throughout The Bronx


THE BRONX HIV ADVOCACY NETWORK DISCUSSES SERVICE PRIORITIES AND LINKAGES TO CARE THROUGHOUT BOROUGH

Bronx, NY – On September 29, 2011 the Bronx HIV Advocacy Network held a meeting at The Bronx AIDS Services on Fordham Road, and lead an in depth discussion on service priorities and linkages to care throughout the Bronx with the following guest speakers: Fred Wright from Vocal NY spoke about HASA Broker Fees and Parolee Voter Rights; John Hellman of the Latino Commission on AIDS spoke about Latinos and Medicaid: Challenges and Opportunities; Michael Valentin of Janssen Therapeutics spoke of Case Management Portals; and LeMed Pharmacy gave an Adherence Update.


Socrates Caba, founder of the Bronx HIV Advocacy Network (BHAN), and LeMed Pharmacy understand the importance of collaboration, distribution of information and education, networking, and raising awareness, something immensely vital to the community at large, and persons infected and affected by HIV/ AIDS, and Hepatitis C.

BHAN’s mission is to focus on the areas hardest hit by these illnesses and improves the coordination and development of existing health care services by promoting agency collaboration, advocacy, and networking, strengthening community awareness of available services in community based organizations. BHAN works to identify and address community health priorities and service gaps to ensure coordination of comprehensive health and social services.
