Police say a 15-year-old New Mexico teen, accused of murdering his own family, had plans to launch an armed assault on a local Wal-mart.
A police report from the shooting indicated that the disturbed teenager had a suicide by cop ideation. Nehemiah Griego allegedly stated that he wanted to "shoot people at random and eventually be killed while exchanging gunfire with law enforcement."
Investigators say, Griego, reportedly told police he hoped to shoot up a Wal-mart after killing his family in order to cause "mass destruction," Yahoo News reported.
Additional news reports say Griego used an assault rifle from his home to shoot his parents and siblings, then went to church and gave conflicting stories on how the family had been murdered. Later in the evening, Griego told members of the Calvary Church that his family had died in a car crash. A member of the church's staff called 911.
Reports say Griego telephoned his 12-year-old girlfriend after committing the murders and spent the entire day with her rather than going to the Walmart.
Police are considering charging the 12-year-old girlfriend with a crime because she knew about the murders and did not notify authorities. Griego told officers that his girlfriend knew about the murders because he took a photograph of his mother after shooting her and sent it to the girl.
