East Orange Police Search For Suspect in Robbery, Homicide

East Orange police continue their search for the person or persons responsible for the shooting death of an East Orange gas station worker over the weekend.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office released a statement identifying the victim as Joginder Singh, of East Orange.
According to police records, Singh was killed during a robbery at his gas station located on William Street in East Orange Sunday night. When officers arrived the found Singh gravely wounded and rushed him to University Hospital in Newark.
Singh, 50, was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m.

The suspect(s) remain at large, said Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray. East Orange Police Chief William Robinson added that the East Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the fatal shooting. Murray asked that anyone with information pertaining to the murder and robbery should contact the prosecutor’s anonymous tip line at (877) 847-7432.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
