Iverson, 37, who has been ensnared in a lengthy court battle with now ex-wife, Tawanna, earned his new title as "single", but he will not be able to visit his children unless he cleans up his act.
An Atlanta Family Court judge made that ruling as he finalized the Iversons divorce action despite Allen's recent filing that his wife's divorce pleading should be dismissed because the two allegedly reunited and were intimate for a four-month period after Tawanna refiled a divorce action in June 2012. She denied her husbands claim.
In the final divorce decree, the judge stated: "[Iverson] does not know how to manage the children; has little interest in learning to manage the children and has actually, at times, been a hindrance to their spiritual and emotional growth and development.
For example, he has refused to attend to an obvious and serious alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the presence of the children while impaired.
He has left the children alone without supervision. He has left his young daughters in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother."
Tawanna was awarded full physical and legal custody of the five children she shared with Allen. Iverson was awarded scanty visitation until he cleans up his act.
One of the orders Allen must adhere to is refraining from the use of alcohol for at least 18 months, enter a rehabilitation program and seek counseling.
According to TMZ, the court order further states that Iverson cannot consume alcohol within 24 hours of his visitation with his children until all of his children are age 18.
The Hampton, Virginia native former NBA MVP and 11 time NBA All-Star was selected for the 1996 NBA Draft while still attending Georgetown University in his sophomore year.
His tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers lasted from 1996-2006 where he was named Rookie of the Year at his start and managed to average and 23.5 points per game, 7.5 assists per game and 2.1 steals per game. After a brief stint with the Memphis Grizzlies (2009-2010), Iverson returned to the 76ers for a minute before heading to Turkey to play in the International league.
Iverson has issued no statements concerning the family courts rulings.
