Facebook Post Falsley Reporting Injury/Death of Tyler Perry

Facebook user claims Tyler Perry was hurt, then later died of his injuries; Fans angry over lies

A Facebook page blasting a nasty rumor that actor, director, producer Tyler Perry was involved in a car accident that sent him to a Fullerton, California hospital in serious condition and later died has several Perry fans steaming.

First off, the name of the hospital Perry was reportedly taken to: Golden State Regional Hospital is actually Golden State Health Centers, which has locations in Southern California for...elder care. I telephoned the agency's corporate office in Sherman Oaks and was told that they do not have a Golden State Regional Hospital and there is no patient in their facility by the name of Tyler Perry or Emmitt Perry Jr (the actor's birth name).

The Facebook entry, which came from a page titled, "U Mad?" and boosts a picture of comedian Katt Williams, goes on to say that Perry's "accident" is "Breaking news" and is "still developing."

The story ends with an indication that the tale has ties to Christopher Conte, whose Facebook page says he works for Tyler Perry Studios/34th Street Films, is a male and resides in Los Angeles, California.

I could not, however, find any post on Conte's page supporting the lie nor did I find that the poster was listed as a friend of Conte.

None of the major News Networks (CNN, MSNBC) have reported any such accident involving Perry and his web site makes no mention of it either.

The post was placed on the Facebook site yesterday (Thursday) morning at 10:16 a.m. and managed to tally more than 1,300 "likes." Several people have commented on the post with well wishes to the 43-year-old Louisiana native, but several people commented that the story was actually a nasty hoax.

The Facebook user account goes on to add additional lies stating that Perry's "condition has worsened" and one stated that Perry "has died from the result of the beating he received by three men early this morning. The doctor said the cause of death was severe head trauma, and complications of AIDS."

In April 2010, another hoax using the name of actress Kristen Stewart was placed on the Internet and if you look at the post, it's a sick mirror of what Facebook user "U Mad" posted about Perry's fake accident right down to the vehicle and the people jumping out of the car and beating Stewart (as said about Perry as well) badly. Read it HERE.

Sick doesn't begin to describe these posts or the individual responsible for posting them. I'm not sure why they have not been removed or the account flagged, but this goes to show you that some people take things beyond too far. There is nothing funny about these posts and I'm sure I speak for many when I say idiots like this need to be banned from all social media networks.
