Georgia police say the squabble began on the online photo sharing social network site, Instagram before moving on to an apartment complex in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the females, some as young as 17-years-old, swapped Instagram messages earlier in the day before going to confront one another at the Cumberland Glen Apartments.
No one knows what the Instagram messages contained or why the messages led to such a violent attack.
Arrest warrants indicate that 17-year-old Myzelle C. Armstrong, of Smyrna, Ala., Zawadi A. Clark, 20, of Marietta, Ga., and Mykhal A. Tait, 20, of Atlanta are facing four counts each of felony battery with intent to disfigure. Armstrong and Tait also stand accused of threatening the victims with a baseball bat.
Police say Ashley Hardy, Jasmine Ragland and Shatericka Barrino suffered second-and third-degree burns to their bodies while Stori Brown escaped with no injuries.
The victims admit they confronted the accused, but Hardy and Ragland say they quickly retreated to their vehicle when they saw the defendants carrying a pot of oil and a baseball bat. As the victims sat in their car, the accused allegedly pried open the car door with the baseball bat and before tossing the oil inside burning Hardy, Barrino and Ragland on the arms and legs.
Hardy suffered third degree burns and will have to undergo skin grafts or surgery.
