The Essex County Prosecutors office announced the shooting of a man in Bloomfield, New Jersey early Sunday morning.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said Bloomfield Police Chief Christopher Goul said said his detectives are investigating the 3:30 a.m. shooting as a homicide.
According to the press release, Bloomfield Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Beardsley Avenue where the responding officers found a 24-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Shortly thereafter, emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of his family.
The shooting investigation is ongoing and is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide and Major Crimes Task Force along with the Bloomfield Police Department.

No further information on the shooting is available at this time.
