Bachelor night in Queens (R.I.P Sean Bell)
By Abba A. Onyeani
My wedding day...boy it’s nice out. I cannot wait to see what these fools have for me. The air is a little chilly, but I'm cool. Wifey's home w/the kids and it’s my night. Bachelor party is coming for real tonight. These fools know their wrong for making me drive, but who cares. This is my last night as a single man.
The night air is crisp and all I want 2 do is party. I told Trent and Joe to pull up late so that I'll be surprised...the last thing I need is to go to some hotel where things might get out of hand and the chick starts calling rape. Anyway, I'm a hard working educated black man, who deserves this special night out.
Laughing to myself. I can't believe the little one tried to say daddy today. It’s amazing how time flies. Wow! I'm 23 years old now and about to be married...time flies when your having fun. The fellas arrive and we're off to some little club in Queens. I didn't know where this place was, I just knew that its time to have a good time.
Ok...this place is jumping. They have the new song by Hov on the radio. Lots of strippers in here. It’s funny because every time I see these chicks I want to go back home to wifey. Haha...I chuckle to myself. Trent and Joe seem to be having a great time. Damn it feels so good to look at my life and say...Sean you did it. You got through all of the nonsense and found your beautiful black queen to build a family, home, and share your life with her.
Man...Its no greater feeling then that. Damn...we been here for a minute. I wonder why those 3 cornballs keep staring at us. Fools are probably some washed up cops getting drunk, trying to make their last bust. What time is it..? Damn its like 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning. Let me hit the bathroom. "Yo, it’s no towels in here"...I said to the stripper. "So" she responded. I just smiled to myself. Who cares...I'm going to be a married man soon.
Trent and Joe handed me a last beer, but I said to myself let me not before I get into this car. On our way out the bouncer gave me a pound and told me congrats. That was cool, usually bouncer are whack. Got my keys time to bounce. It’s still cold out here. I don't know why. It just is...wifey's bed will be nice and toasty tomorrow though.
Wait...did those cornballs follow us out here. Anyway let’s just go...it’s late...and I need to get ready for my big day. I wonder what's on the radio at this time. Time to go home...................................................................................................................................................Not guilty?! Are you serious, these fools shot me 50 times and this judge is questioning the character of my boys?! I can't see my kids anymore, my wife, and mom...dad....not guilty?! Rev. Sharpton is doing it big for me, wifey is a Queen as usual, a strong, wonderful black woman. I've not been forgotten. Seeing that makes me proud, my people are strong and I know that a change will come soon.
