U.S. Woman Jailed in D.R. For Heroin
An Americana is being detained in a Dominican Republic jail on a bond of RD$100,000. She was caught prior to boarding a flight bound for Boston carrying one kilo of pure heroin.Santo Domingo Province temporary Instruction Judge Karen J. Mejía ruled that there’s no possibility that Stephanie Duvergé can flee, just as the student Emely Severino, both detained August 9 by the Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) at the Las Americas International Airport (AILA). Duvergé had the drug hidden in her vagina and adhered some to her breasts. She was detained prior to boarding Jet Blue flight 962 to Boston. Her friend was arrested shortly after leaving the terminal.

Fugitive Arrested in D.R.

The Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) arrested a man wanted in the United States to face drug trafficking charges in New York. South District Court.

Gas Woes Hit Santo Domingo

Petrol prices in the D.R. will climb again by as early as Saturday. Fuel prices will be as high as 4.10 pesos, said the Industry and Commerce Ministry. Beginning at midnight, premium gasoline will cost 159.30 pesos per gallon, or 2.80 more, and regular will cost 149.20 pesos, or 2.30 more per gallon. Regular diesel will cost 123.80 pesos and premium will sell for 128 pesos per gallon, a 4.10 jump on both.
