George Michael Briefly Arrested in Britain

Pop star George Michael was arrested last night after his Land Rover collided with a lorry in Britain. For those of you unfamiliar with British/English vehicles, a Lorry is just another name for a truck. Bobbies were called at 1:00 am this morning to the accident scene which occured on the southbound carriageway of the A34 highway.
A silver Land Rover (George's vehicle) and an articulated lorry were at the scene. Bobbies immediately arrested Michael and took him to the Lodden Valley police station. He was released at 5:55 a.m. after police determined that he was indeed sober and not under the influence of any drugs. The driver of the Lorry, Laurie Row, told the Britain Daily Mail newspaper that: "He (Michael) seemed completely disorientated, like he had no idea what was going on. He looked totally dazed and even tried to climb into the cab of my lorry."

A spokeswoman for Michael told the Sun newspaper the reports were "rubbish". "Neither of us was charged because we were both stone cold sober. We both think the other is to blame so this is just an insurance fight," Michael said, referring to the lorry driver."I don't want my fans or my family worried by what they are reading all over again."

He's referring to his 2006 and 2008 arrests. In 2006, Michael was found slumped over the wheel of his car. He pled guilty to "driving while unfit through drugs" (is how the British headline read) and was given a two-year driving ban. In 2008, he was simply "cautioned" for possession of drugs.
Michael rose to fame in the 1980's with his pop band, "Wham!" As a solo artist, he has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, with seven U.S. number one singles, 11 number one singles in Britain and six number one albums. Some of his hit songs include, "Everything She Wants," "Careless Whispers," and "Father Figure."
