With the death of Don Diva Magazine's Sam Ferguson..Are journalists in hip hop becoming targets for investigative stories?

Sam Ferguson a journalist for Don Diva magazine was killed in a drive-by shooting on the Florida Turnpike on Friday August 14,2009. The journalist broke the now infamous truth about Rick Ross's "career change" from CO to gangsta rapper. The rapper was upset when Ferguson did an interview for Hip-Hop Weekly and a an interview with Don Diva magazine titled “Would the Real Rick Ross Stand Up.” The Miami police are seeking clues, but are looking for a black car with clear tail light lenses. Will this affect journalism in hip hop?

I mean, rappers don't seem to understand that without the "hip-hop" press they would not be as famous or profitable. This news is unacceptable that a 47 year old journalist could be shot down like a mafia kingpin.

A quote from Rick Ross after the Officer Ricky story broke “Ferguson is a liar, he’s an informant, he’s a rat, he’s a b***h,” Rick Ross said of Ferguson during their feud. “I hope he’s offended; get at me in the streets n***a you know how we play. This s**t about to get Deeper Than Rap.”

The man was just doing his job, writing stories!!
