The Folk musical group, Peter, Paul and Mary has lost member Mary Travers this day.
Travers, age 72, lost her battle with leukemia. Diagnosed in 2004, Travers received a bone amrrow transplant and went on with her concert tour in December 2005 including a holiday performance at Carnegie Hall.
Peter, Paul and Mary received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award from Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006.
The trio had hit songs like their 1969 hit "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," "If I Had a Hammer (The Hammer Song)," and their 1963 smash hit, "Puff (The Magic Dragon)."
