Thousands of customers in parts of Hudson and Bergen counties were without power for a couple of hours last night after a transformer exploded at two substations in West New York and North Bergen.

PSE&G said ten thousand customers lost power during the outage in at least four towns: Cliffside Park, North Bergen, Guttenberg and West New York.

Power was restored to most homes by 8:00 p.m., PSE&G officials said.
