Aswad Ayinde, the man accused of raping and impregnating his own daughters in order to maintain a "pure" bloodline within his family was the video director of West Orange natives The Fugees 1996 smash hit "Killing me softly."
He earned an MTV music award for the video.
Ayinde nee Charles McGill, who earned an MTV video award for the Fugees video, is said to have fathered six children with daughters beginning in the 1980's and ending in 2002. His former wife, Beverly Ayinde, testified in court that Ayinde even delivered the babies.
Beverly Ayinde bore her fanatical ex-husband nine children throughout their marriage but he is said to have two other children with Ex-girlfriend Subhana Rahim who was once an attorney at a prestigious Manhattan law firm.
Investigators say Rahim ended her relationship with Ayinde when she learned of his incestuous relations with his daughters.
Ayinde, 51, is facing the first of five trials next month - one for each daughter he allegedly violated, said Lisa Squitieri, the Passaic County prosecutor handling the case.
Prosecutors have expressed shock at the fact that Ayinde's abuse occured while the family was being investigated by the Department of child services after Ayinde attempted to remove the children he fathered with his daughters while the state had temporary custody.
He allegedly prevented his daughters and former wife from divulging his sick acts by beating kicking them with steel-toe boots and whipping them with wooden boards.
Beverly Ayinde testified that she was afraid to confront her former husband about his sexual abuse of their daughter for fear he would beat her again.
