Govenor Patterson Accused of Ethics Violation Over Yankee Tixs

The state Public Integrity Commission has accused Governor David Paterson of an ethics violation after they allege he secured Yankees World Series tickets by misusing his Governor status. The tickets in question were issued by the Yankees without payment being expected as they were told the tickets were for "official use."

Word is the Governor's right hand man, David Johnson, requested the tickets in October for Game 1 of the series.

The commission stated that the check, while signed with the Governor's name, was not in his handwriting and was only submitted after a press inquiry exposed the misdeed.

Governor Paterson defended receiving the tickets without immediate payment saying he attended the game in an "official capacity" with two aides, his son, Alex and a friend of his son's.

The Commission also alleges that they have "reasonable cause" to believe that "Paterson falsely testified under oath that he always intended to pay for the tickets," when, in fact he did not.

Paterson has been charged with violating two provisions of the state gift ban, which carries a maximum penalty of $80,000 and an additional charge of violating three sections of state ethics law, of which each charge carries a $10,000 maximum fine.

Johnson was recently suspended from his duties at the Governor's office after it had been revealed that he assaulted former girlfriend, Sherruna Booker during a Halloween attack where he is accused of ripping off Booker's costume and choking her.
