Linden police have identified the dismembered remains of a man and a woman found on a residential street Monday. Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow has not released the identity of the victims pending notification of their relatives, which are in the process of being made.

An autopsy concluded that the male victim may be Hispanic between ages 30 to 35 years old and the female victim may be Hispanic or Caucasian, but the medical examiner could not determine how long the couple had been dead before they were discovered.

Police discovered the bodies amongst four laundry-type bags and two black garbage bags after a woman who lives on Cranford Avenue, where the bags were dumped, telephoned police after noticing flies swarming about the bags. Police say the bags may have been at that location for as long as four days before being noticed.

Police are asking anyone with information related to this case to call Union County Crimestoppers at 908-527-4621. All calls will remain confidential.
