With the free-agent shopping period less than a month away, the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls are among the teams interested in landing Cleveland forward LeBron James, but James hinted to Larry King during a CNN interview to be aired Friday that his current team, the Cavaliers, have "the edge" over other teams vying for him.

"This city, these fans ... have given me a lot in these seven years. And, you know, for me, it's comfortable. So I've got a lot of memories here. And so it does have an edge," James told King during a portion of his interview released by CNN on Tuesday.

James' comments to King are his first public comments since the post game press conference he gave after the Cavaliers were eliminated by Boston in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

According to a CNN article, politician bigwigs, have their dibs on a New York and Chicago teams for James. President Obama told TNT's Marv Albert last month, that he thinks James would be a "fit" for the Chicago Bulls. Mayor Michael Bloomberg told the New York Daily News that he thinks James would love living in New York, should he choose the Knicks or the Nets.

James, who told King that his goal is to be with a team that can win more than one NBA championship, joins fellow free-agents-to-be Miami's Dwyane Wade, Toronto's Chris Bosh, Phoenix's Amare Stoudamire, Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki and Atlanta's Joe Johnson. During his interview with James, King asked James about reports that he, Wade, Bosh, Johnson and others were planning to talk to each other before they settled on where to go.

"I don't know to that extent, but it will be fun," James replied. "It will be fun to get all the free agents together and figure out a way how we can make the league better."

James, who was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, has spent his entire seven-season NBA career with the Cavaliers, who drafted him, 25, out of high school in 2003.

He became the first player to earn at least 2.5 million votes three times During the 2004-2005 season and is the youngest player in league history to record a triple-double.

Catch James' interview Friday at 9 p.m. (EST) on CNNs "Larry King Live."
