An early morning shooting at the South Street Seaport left three people wounded and two in police custody, 1010wins.com reported.

Police say two women and a 23-year-old man left the upscale Stella lounge on Front Street around 3 a.m. and became involved in a fight with two men as they walked along Beekman Street. One of the men pulled out a .357-caliber handgun, which police recovered at the scene, and shot all three before fleeing the scene.

"There was a group of people screaming," said Henrique Gendre, 39, a Beekman Street resident, whose 10-day-old baby was woken by the sounds of two shots. "I was surprised. This is such a nice neighborhood," Gendre told The NY Post.

The bullets shattered the windshield of a gray Toyota Prius parked on the street and pierced the window of a neighboring warehouse.

One of the women, aged 21, was shot in the torso, while the other, also 21, was shot in the hand. The man was injured by a grazing bullet.

All three, who are from Brooklyn and Queens, were transported to Bellevue Hospital, where they were in stable condition this morning.

Police nabbed the two suspects a block from the shooting. Charges are pending against both, who police say lived in the area on South and Madison Streets, as police continue to investigate the shooting.
