When Jay Electronica and Wale signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation, the message was clear..be on the lookout for some banging music..coming soon! Fast forwad to 2011 and wale has moved on to Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group and Jay Electronica..well he's just missing.
The "hip-hop" media elite won't discuss this for fear of losing ad dollars via Rocawear but at The Black Urban Times, we can't afford to not give our readers the truth..straight no chaser. Wasn't it not too long ago, that Jay-Z was the head of Def Jam..and was putting out albums, instead of focusing on his artists.
The theory is that once "Young" becomes your boss..your music is put on the back burner to his music and features for certain artists(Young Jeezy+Rick Ross). "DefJam Hov" oversaw some of the best artists in hip-ho..Redman, MethodMan, Joe Buddens and LL Cool J..to name a few. Its still a mystery as to why these artists weren't pushed enough.
Enough of that now..back to Jay Electronica and Wale. These two rap artists have unique styles and popular followings. The problem is that their "boss" can get intimidated at times. Why is there so much buzz for "watch the throne" and a "HAM" single?
Comparing Roc Nation to Bad Boy is simple..one rapper..Red Cafe. Where's the single/album? How lo
Long you been signed to @iamdiddy?
My beef, not ham, with this situation is that good music should have been put out by Jay Electronica already. At least Wale, like a true Nigerian, knows how to move fast when things aren't going down the right way.
So as I sit here listening to Raekwon, who has one of the best albums out this year, I wonder will Jay Electronica drop an album before his boss does or will we hear "Ham part 2" before the pork is done cooking.
