20 Year Anniversary Of Ice Cube's "Death Certificate" & N.W.A "Niggaz4Life"

20 Years ago, West Coast legend Ice Cube, released Death Certificate on Priority Records.
That Fall day, October 29, 1991 would change my life forever. Ice Cube was a Solo Artist now after leaving NWA, who fired shots at him on their new album Niggaz4Life. Which was also released 20 years ago on May 28, 1991. After listening to Real niggaz {Ice Cube Diss} and Appetite for Destruction. I knew Ice Cube was coming back with some heat.

Before the Phase "Shots Fired" became popular in the blogosphere, Ice Cube unleashed a verbal ass whipping, that My 14 year old ears were ready to witness. I was so anxious to crack open that cassette tape, I damn near cut my finger on the plastic case. After reading the credits and track List. I was mesmerized by the album cover, with Uncle Sam laying there dead. Because we had just learn about him in history class that day. lol

Death Certificate Sold 105,000 copies in its first week, With gritty tracks like The "Wrong Nigga to Fuck Wit" , Steady Mobbin" & Summer time. Unlike today's Hip Hop, You could learn alot from tracks like Black Korea, I Wanna Kill Sam & A Bird in the Hand.

'Givin' Up the Nappy Dug Out" Was a shocker for me, then and now. I'm surprise Priority Records allow this song to be release. The song was too sexually graphic describing a little girl. (Minor) Ice Cube, could never get away with that today.

No Vaseline, Produced By. Ice Cube and Sir Jinx Was the Song I've been waiting for. Easily the most talked about song in Oct, Nov &Dec Of 1991. Similar to the publicity Lil Wayne got last month dissing Jay Z. But without the Internet of Course. I literally played the song over 400 times, and learned it the same day.
I wanted to go to school, that next day knowing this song by heart.

Death Certificate, eventually went on to sell 1,600,134 copies and is my favorite of all time.
On Sept 21, 2011 director John Singleton told The Playlist he’s in talks with reuniting with Ice Cube to direct the N.W.A. story. Let's Hope He Perfectly Capture the Moments Of 1991 With Niggaz4Life & Death Certificate.

The Moments that changed Hip Hop forever. ---
