The Prophet Returns: The Hip Hop Generation Remix of A Classic

Featuring readings by Chadwick Bosman, Ben Snider, Kristoffer Diaz, Antony Grant, Abiola Abrams, Say Word! Voices from Hip Hop Theater is a joint book launch by HHTF artists. Say Word! is edited with an introduction by Daniel Banks and The Prophet Returns: The Hip Hop Generation Remix of A Classic by Bryonn Bain.

Authors and actors will read selections from the first critical anthology of Hip Hop Theatre, Say Word! (University of Michigan Press, 2011), including work by Chadwick Boseman, Zakiyyah Alexander, Joe Hernandez-Kolski, Rha Goddess, Kristoffer Diaz (2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist), Rickerby Hinds. This event is also the first reunion of Hip-Hop Theatre performance trio Goddess City.

As part of this historic evening, celebrated performer, author, educator, and activist Bryonn Bain will share from his newly released, Hip Hop era remix of Khalil Gibran’s celebrated classic The Prophet. Books will be available for sale and will be signed by the author.
