Charlotte, North Carolina police are investigating the theft of weapons from the vehicle of Carolina Panthers linebacker Kion Wilson.
ESPN News reports that Wilson was headed to a local firing range for practice shooting when he stopped at a Best Buy near the Northlake Mall to shop. When the 25-year-old Florida native returned to his F250 truck, he noticed the weapons were missing.

Charlotte police Sgt. Brian Foley said the truck’s door lock was damaged, and that investigators are reviewing footage from nearby surveillance cameras but have no suspects at this time. Taken during Monday's alleged robbery were a Glock 23, an FN 57 handgun, a Smith and
Wesson Body Guard 380 and a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, all worth approximately $1,700.

According to Foley, the type of truck Wilson was driving is often targeted by thieves. Citing the privacy of the investigation, Foley would not say if the guns were registered to Wilson, but Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said the weapons were legally registered to Wilson and that he was able to travel with them, reported MSN Fox Sports.

Wilson, who attended William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida, was rated a four-star recruit by Scout.com and a three-star recruit by Rivals.com. The un-drafted University of Florida alumnus signed with the San Diego Chargers as a rookie free agent on May 10, 2010.
He was promoted to the team's active roster in October just in time for their Week 4 game after being cut loose following training camp in October. Wilson played in three games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury and being placed on the Injured Reserve list.
The 2008 Rookie of the Year was signed to the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers on October 4th, 2011 where he reunited with former Chargers teammate, Ron Rivera.
