Small Business Report looks promising

SBA News Digest:

Food Manufacturer Finds Success On The Supply Chain To Harris Teeter:
This week, SBA Deputy Administrator visited a food manufacturer in Charlotte to highlight the efforts of the Obama Administration to help small businesses grow and create jobs. B. Roberts Foods, LLC. converted their  facility into a full-scale food plant and created 45 new jobs with the help of an SBA-backed loan. Earlier this year, SBA announced the Supplier Connection, part of the Administration-wide American Supplier InitiativeSupplier Connection can help small suppliers, like B. Roberts Foods, get access to large buyers like IBM, AT & T and Caterpillar through a common application—creating more opportunities to start, grow and hire more Americans. High-Growth Small Businesses Get A Boost With The Re-Authorization Of The SBIR Program:
After many short-term reauthorizations, the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program was reauthorized by Congress in late 2011 for six years. SBA quickly took action, soliciting feedback from small businesses, investors and other stakeholders to implement the legislation and get more dollars into the hands of high-tech firms more quickly. This is part of SBA’s efforts to streamline and simplify eligibility requirements so small firms - like Qualcomm, Genzyme, and iRobot did years ago - can get the funding they need to succeed. SBIR creates a win-win situation for federal agencies looking to meet research and development (also known as R&D) goals and helps provide more access and opportunity for innovative, high-growth start-ups to grow and create jobs. Accelerating Growth In Rural Communities:
This week, SBA joined forces with 12 other federal agencies to promote job creation, accelerate innovation and provide assistance to entrepreneurs and businesses in a wide range of industrial sectors, including advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, energy and natural resources, technology and tourism in rural communities. This announcement builds on the efforts of the Obama Administration to foster growth and job creation in manufacturing sectors through public-private partnerships to create an American economy built to last. Project winners will receive support from SBA’s resource network of 14,000 counselors ready, willing and able to help these small businesses succeed.
