Dr. Chika Onyeani Recognized as One of 25 Most Influential Africans in America

Congratulations are in order to Dr. Chika Onyeani, recognized this week as one of the 25 Most Influential Africans in America.

The ceremony, held at New York City's Millennium Hotel, celebrated the achievements of noteworthy African professionals in America.  Seven women and eighteen men made the list.

Onyeani serves as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the African Sun Times, Africa’s No.1 newspaper in America.

African Union officials laud Onyeani as "champion of the African agenda in America."

In 2005, the New York Times selected Dr. Onyeani to be a Fellow to the New York Times Company Foundation Institute. Dr. Onyeani was amongst 12 people selected from a pool of 165 ethnic newspapers in the Big Apple.

The highly coveted recognition remains amongst several distinctive honors bestowed upon Dr. Onyeani, known within journalism circles as the "Dean of the African Media in America."

The author and recipient of the 2009 "Black Newspaper of the Year" award is a native of Okagwe-Ohafia, in Nigeria.
