Shawty Redd Court date Rescheduled (Video)

Things aren't looking very good for Atlanta producer Shawty Redd (nee Demetrius Lee Stewart) who was arrested January 1 on a murder charge in Georgia after an early morning dispute that left 35-year-old Damon Martin of Detroit, dead.

A statement by Henry County police stated that at 8 AM on January 1, Henry County police responded to a shooting call at the Hampton, Georgia home of Stewart. Police said he had been involved in a dispute at his home with an "acquaintance," who was the deceased, Mr. Martin. The confrontation escalated and Stewart shot and killed Martin, the report said.

The black urban times confirmed through Police spokesman Captain Jason Bolton that Stewart telephoned 911 to report the shooting to police. Bolton added that Stewart came to the police station where he was questioned further. After that questioning, a detective placed the Atlanta producer under arrest for murder. Stewart has maintained from the start that he only acted in self-defense after Martin threatened his life, but, Detectives only found one gun at the scene and since there were no other witnesses to the incident, Stewart's self-defense theory isn't looking to promising.

Stewart, who made his first court appearance without an attorney, was granted another court date in order to allow him time to secure legal representation. That hearing is scheduled for January 12 at 8:30 AM. Stewart remains in the Henry county Jail without bond.
The Black Urban Times was unable to reach PR reps for Stewart at press time.

Stewart made his debut onto the producing circuit with Hip Hop artist Young Jeezy's mixtape Trap or Die, but Stewart was credited with "changing the face of hip hop" with his production of Snoop Dogg's "Sexual Seduction."

WARNING: Audio in video is extremely low and features music. Redd cannot be heard speaking.
